A workshop for you who wants a stronger personal expression when dancing. For you who wants to have you face and whole body to be a part of your steps. For you who wants to feel the music in your heart and let your emotions flow freely into your movements. For you who wish to be a better performer.
What do you get:
Training in how to connect with the music and lyrics of the song you are dancing a choreography to. What does it make you feel? How do you connect with the song?
Exercises in how to spread these feelings from the top of your head to the tip of your toes, and in how to express them in your dance.
Tools to create your own inner story when you dance a choreography - is it a seduction, a break-up, an outlet of anger and frustration, or a sensitive expression of love?
Exploring different kinds of expressions and characters - how silly, strong, angry, elegant, powerful can you be?
How to put your own personal spin on a choreo, so it becomes personal and something only you could do.
What to expect of the day:
Introductions and warm-up
Exercises: We are going to listen to different pieces of music, see what feelings they bring up and move spontaneously to the music. Later we will work on how you can create your own inner story to a specific piece of music.
You will learn a short, neutral burlesque choreo. Then we will combine first the feelings-exercise, with the choreo.
We will do an exercise to explore many different kinds of expression, to see how far you can go, and then we will combine that with the choreo too.

When Sally Boleyn saw her first burlesque show, it was love at first sight. The dance, the comedy, the stories, the filterless sensuality and the fearless performers - she was completely hooked! Since then she has worked her way from door person to stage kitten to performing on burlesque stages all over the country.
